The Berthoud High School Music Program consists of a Marching Band, Concert Band, two Jazz Bands, Orchestra, Mixed Choir, Show Choir, Music Theory and Guitar Classes.
BHS is proud of our well-rounded music program where each student has a place to develop their musical skills as part of a comprehensive music education.
The directors are most proud of our family like atmosphere where students support each other, attend each others performances, and help each other academically. It is not uncommon to find music students in the band or choir rooms before/after school or during their off hour.
The Directors
Mr. Krogstad joins us in his third year of teaching and proud to be starting his first year at Berthoud High School as the Instrumental Music Director. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education (All Grades) from Augustana University in Sioux Falls, SD — SKOL VIKINGS!
At BHS, Mr. Krogstad teaches Concert Band, Jazz Band, Marching Band, Orchestra, and Guitar. He is especially excited to uphold the strong traditions, expectations, and excellence of the Spartan Marching Band and continue its legacy of pride and performance.
Before joining BHS, Mr. Krogstad gained valuable experience through a variety of long-term substitute positions, stepping in for band directors and leading students through performances and concert prep. His primary instrument is the baritone saxophone, though he enjoys exploring the entire woodwind family. He also plays piano, dabbles in guitar, and is on a lifelong (and slightly humorous) quest to master the trombone.
Passionate about jazz, concert, and pep bands, Mr. Krogstad brings energy, creativity, and a deep love of music to everything he does. Outside the band room, he’s a proud and self-proclaimed huge nerd — whether he's gaming, swing or blues dancing, binge-watching 'The Rookie', catching up on classic anime, or leveling up new hobbies just for the fun of it.
